|
Richmond County Real Estate Institute (RCREI) instructor and local attorney Mark Piazza was appointed to a five (5) year term on the New York City Campaign Finance Board by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. The five member Campaign Finance Board oversees the city’s Campaign Finance Program, which allows a political candidate to abide by spending limits and, in return, qualifies for public matching funds. Mr. Piazza is only the second Staten Islander to ever serve on the Board. Former City Councilman Fred Cerullo was the other. The City Council Speaker appoints two members of the Board. The mayor also appoints two board members and the fifth is a joint appointment by both officials. Mark Piazza litigates landlord-tenant cases for the firm of Jacobi, Sieghardt, Bousanti, Piazza & Fitzpatrick and is a partner of SIBOR Counsel Mordecai Jacobi. He is a past president of the Richmond County Bar Association and has taught landlord-tenant law at RCREI. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Hofstra University and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
