The Greater New York Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) held its Annual Awards Dinner and Installation at Tavern on the Green on November 9 where SIBOR Director Dawn Carpenter, CPM, Broker/Owner of Dawning Real Estate, AMO,was installed as 2006 President.  Ms. Carpenter is the President of Dawning Real Estate, a full service real estate firm that she has owned and operated since 1999 with clients from Staten Island to Albany. More than fifteen members of the Staten Island Board of Realtors, including ten fellow directors, were on hand to honor Dawn on her special occasion.

The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®) has been the source for education, resources, information and membership for real estate management professionals for more than 70 years. An affiliate of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, IREM is the only professional real estate management association serving both the multi-family and commercial real estate sectors. With 82 U.S. chapters, eight international chapters, and several other partnerships around the globe, IREM is an international organization that serves as an advocate on issues affecting the real estate management industry.  Membership includes nearly 17,500 individual members and 530 corporate members. IREM promotes ethical real estate management practices through its credentialed membership programs, including the Certified Property Manager® (CPM®) designation, the Accredited Residential Manager® (ARM®) certification, and the Accredited Management Organization® (AMO®) accreditation.

While speaking at the installation, Dawn commented, "As IREM Chapter President, I will continue our role in supporting our members commitment to maximizing the value of the real estate entrusted to them and to safeguarding the people who live, work and shop in the properties they manage."

Later in the evening, Dawning Real Estate was honored by the Greater New York Chapter of IREM as the Accredited Management Organization of the Year. The AMO recognizes excellence among real estate management firms. Only firms that achieve the highest level of performance, experience and financial stability can earn the AMO credential. Currently there are nine AMO firms in the tri-state area. Dawning Real Estate is the only real estate firm in Staten Island with a Certified Property Manager on staff and is the only company on Staten Island that is an Accredited Management Organization. "We at Dawning Real Estate share the same values as IREM--hard work, ethical conduct, and an emphasis on education. We are honored to receive such a distinguished award,” Dawn said.

The designation of Certified Property Manager is awarded to members who have successfully completed the Institute’s requirements.  In addition, the Institute sponsors programs which prepare individuals as Accredited Residential Managers.

2005 President, James Heller, CPM said to the newly installed IREM officers and executive council, “Your dedication and commitment will take the Chapter to another level of success.

Recently, IREM granted two awards to the Greater New York Chapter at their Annual Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.  The members of this chapter were given the First Place Honor for the greatest number of Associate Members and Second Place Honor for the greatest number of new Certified Property Manager candidates in the 2004 Member Recruitment Program. Ms. Carpenter accepted these awards on behalf of the Chapter.
